The name Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei and Ki . Rei means "sacred spirit", "mystery", "gift" or "honor"; and Ki is the "life-force energy that sustains and connects all life". Reiki dates back to ancient Tibet and was rediscovered in the 19th century by Mikaomi Usui, a Japanese monk .
